Joining Love Island, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Deal Or No Deal, Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor in the Slingo TV show department is The Chase. The Chase Slingo is an exclusive that can be found at Gala Bingo. They have the rights to slots and bingo games that have the quiz show's branding, so why not have a Slingo version too? The Chase is on so let's check out the game.
Unfortunately The Chase Slingo is simply Slingo Riches in a TV show rebrand. The game board features the show's logo and is splashed in the brand's familiar red. If you're hoping to see any of The Chasers or Bradley Walsh then you're going to be disappointed. What you do have is the 5x5 Slingo grid featuring 25 random numbers between 1 and 25. Below that are the reels that generate the numbers whilst to the right is a pot of balls representing your turns.
How To Play The Chase Slingo
The aim of any Slingo game is to get a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. Each line represents a win and the more lines you get the bigger the prize. A completed card represents a full house. During game play you may get wilds or super wilds that allow you to select numbers on the game card. Additionally free play balls can be won - it's possible to get up to four free plays per turn.
Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 10p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £100 (Gala Bingo). The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site. There is no Autoplay but The Chase Slingo does allow you to wager on. Basically once your turn has finished you'll be invited to play on for a given price and potential win. We advise against this option as wins are rare! The maximum number of extra turns - including free plays - is four.
Super Wilds
Unlike The X Factor Slingo game, The Chase one doesn't boast anything of note like a progressive jackpot. Wilds and Super Wilds replace the Jokers, whilst the Devil has been swapped for The Chaser as depicted in the brand's logo. Instant win cash prizes can be won if coins appear on the reels whilst 3 or more Wilds/Super Wilds also result in cash prizes. These are paid as x0.5, x2 or x5 the initial wager.
The maximum win on The Chase Slingo is x200 your wager. Therefore the top cash prize is £20,000 based on a £100 play. Keen Slingo observers will note that this is in fact the same as you'd get for Slingo Riches. And that's about it for this particular version. It's crying out for something extra, but sadly it's just not there.
The Verdict
Although this is called The Chase Slingo it's in effect Slingo Riches with a different look. Despite it's name there's actually nothing new here for players. Other than the look and some sounds you'd be hard pushed to know what the association with the popular TV quiz show actually is there for. We TV show branded games but they do need to relate to the actual programmes.
For example each win line could get you a number of points ahead of The Chaser. A bonus game then plays where The Chaser has to answer questions. If they beat you then you win the base prize, but if they fail then you win a multiplier of the prize. That may be tough to develop but it'd make for a more exciting game. As is The Chase Slingo just doesn't bring enough to the table and therefore feels like an opportunity lost.
